Aspektuális is a term used in linguistics, particularly in the study of Slavic languages, to describe a verb's grammatical aspect. Aspect refers to the way an action or state is viewed in terms of its duration, completion, or repetition, rather than its tense (when it occurred). In languages like Russian, Polish, and Czech, verbs typically exist in pairs: one imperfective and one perfective.

The imperfective aspect generally describes an action as ongoing, habitual, or incomplete. For example, in Russian, the imperfective verb "читать" (chitat') means "to read" and can refer to the process of reading, reading repeatedly, or reading in general. It focuses on the action itself without necessarily indicating its completion.

The perfective aspect, on the other hand, typically denotes a completed action, a single instance of an action, or the beginning or end of an action. The perfective counterpart to "читать" is "прочитать" (prochitat'), which means "to read through" or "to finish reading." It emphasizes the result or the entirety of the action.
