Asfyksians are a humanoid species native to the planet Asphyxa, a world characterized by a dense, oxygen-rich atmosphere and extensive archipelagic regions. They are distinguished by a tall, slender build, skin tones ranging from pale to coppery, and eyes adapted to low light. A notable physiological feature is a highly efficient respiratory system, including a layered diaphragm and an auxiliary gas-exchange organ that aids in variable atmospheric pressure. They communicate primarily through a spoken language, Asfyxian, supplemented by nonverbal cues such as body posture and skin color shifts.

The name Asfyksian derives from the ancient Asphyxan word for breath, reflecting the species’ adaptation to their atmosphere.
