Arvioituna

Arvioituna is a Finnish non-finite verb form derived from the verb arvioida, meaning to assess or estimate. It expresses that something has been evaluated and indicates the state or result of that evaluation. In grammar, arvioituna is formed from the past passive participle arvioitu plus the essive suffix -na/-nä, producing an essive participle that describes a temporary state linked to an evaluation.

The form is most common in written Finnish and is typically used in formal or technical contexts, such as reports, audits, risk assessments, and statistical descriptions. It functions as an adverbial participle or predicative supplement, describing how something is considered or presented after evaluation. Because it signals a result of an assessment, arvioituna helps to frame statements as findings or conclusions derived from the evaluation process.

Arvioituna is distinct from other related expressions. It is not identical to arviolta, which means approximately or roughly and stresses estimation rather than a concluded evaluation. In everyday speech, other phrases like arvioiden mukaan or arviolta are more common, whereas arvioituna appears more in formal, written discourse. The form also relates to arviointi (the process or act of evaluating), arvioitu (the past passive participle “evaluated”), and arvioinnin (the noun form related to evaluation).
