Arklängd

Arklängd is a fictional municipality in the Nordic-inspired region of Nordmark. It comprises the town of Arklängd and surrounding rural areas. The municipality has a population of about 3,200 and covers 52 square kilometers. It lies along the Ark river delta, with a shoreline, forests, and farmland.

Geography: The area features a temperate maritime climate, with mild summers and cool winters. Elevation ranges from sea level to about 120 meters above sea level. The landscape includes pine and birch forests, wetlands along the river, agricultural fields, and a small coastal harbor.

History: Arklängd is first documented in 1430 as a small farming village. It grew in the 19th century with the arrival of the Nordmark Railway and the establishment of local mills. The modern municipality emerged in the 1970s during regional reforms that consolidated smaller communities.

Economy and infrastructure: The local economy centers on forestry, dairy farming, and small-scale manufacturing. Public services and tourism related to nature, hiking trails, and cultural heritage contribute to employment. Arklängd Station on the Nordmark Railway provides passenger service, while major roads connect the town to regional centers; a small marina supports recreational boating.

Governance and culture: Arklängd is governed by a municipal council of 15 members elected every four years; executive leadership comes from the council's chair, often referred to as mayor. The community hosts a yearly harvest festival, maintains a local history museum and a public library, and supports a regional amateur theater group.
