Arbeidsmiljøutvalget

Arbeidsmiljøutvalget, often abbreviated as AMU, is a mandatory committee in Norwegian workplaces with at least 50 employees. Its primary function is to contribute to a healthy and safe working environment. The committee is composed of representatives from both the employer and employees. Typically, the employer is represented by management personnel, while employee representatives are elected by the workforce.

The Arbeidsmiljøutvalget plays a crucial role in the ongoing development and improvement of the work environment. It discusses and makes recommendations on various aspects related to health, safety, and welfare at work. This includes, but is not limited to, risk assessments, accident prevention, psychosocial work environment issues, and measures to promote employee well-being.
