Araponga is a municipality located in the western part of the state of Paraná, Brazil. It lies within the mesoregion of Centro Norte Paranaense and the microregion of Araçuaí. The settlement was officially founded on 14 December 1988, having separated from the neighboring municipality of Araçuaí. The name of the town is derived from the Tupi-Guarani language, meaning “place of gentle rivers” or “river of air,” reflecting the presence of several waterways in the area.
