Aqueuse

Aqueuse is the feminine form of the French adjective aqueux, meaning water-based or containing water. It is used in science to describe substances and media that are dissolved in or composed mainly of water. For example, une solution aqueuse refers to an aqueous solution, and une phase aqueuse denotes the water-rich phase in mixtures or emulsions. The masculine form is aqueux, and phrases can reference non-aqueous contexts as non aqueux.

In chemistry, an aqueous solution is a solution in which water is the solvent. Water’s polarity promotes the dissolution of many salts and polar molecules. It is produced by the ciliary body, flows from the posterior chamber through the pupil to the anterior chamber, and drains via the trabecular meshwork and canal of Schlemm. The aqueous humor maintains intraocular pressure and provides nutrients to avascular structures such as the cornea and lens.
