Apokriiniseen

Apokriininen is an adjective in Finnish that denotes a relation to apocrypha, the body of writings not included in the standard biblical canon. In theology and textual criticism, apokriininen is used to describe texts, fragments, or scholarly concepts connected with apocryphal literature, as well as annotations, critical methods, or discussions concerning such writings. The term can apply to manuscripts, interpretations, or classifications that concern apocryphal works rather than canonical ones. In sentences, the illative form apokriiniseen is used to indicate movement toward or into the apocrypha.

Originating from the Greek apokryphos meaning hidden or concealed, via Latin apocryphus, the Finnish adjective was formed with the common -inen suffix. The corresponding noun for the field is often apokryfikirjat (apocryphal books) or apokryyfe/apokryfikirjat in Finnish scholarly usage.
