Antitoksiine

Antitoksiine are antibodies that protect the body from toxins. Toxins are poisonous substances, often produced by bacteria or venomous animals. When a toxin enters the body, the immune system can recognize it as foreign and produce specific antibodies to neutralize it. These antibodies, called antitoksiine, bind to the toxin molecules, preventing them from causing harm to the body's cells and tissues.

The production of antitoksiine is a key part of the immune response to certain infections and exposures. For example, after being exposed to a bacterial toxin, the body will create antitoksiine that can combat future encounters with the same toxin. In some cases, antitoksiine can be administered to an individual to provide immediate protection against a toxin, a process known as passive immunization. This is commonly done in cases of snakebite or tetanus exposure, where pre-formed antitoksiine are given to neutralize the venom or toxin quickly. The effectiveness of antitoksiine depends on their specificity for the particular toxin they are designed to neutralize.
