Antiretroviruslääkitysten, often shortened to ART, refers to the combination drug treatment used to manage HIV infection. These medications do not cure HIV, but they can control the virus and prevent it from multiplying. By suppressing the viral load to undetectable levels, ART significantly reduces the risk of HIV transmission and allows individuals living with HIV to lead long and healthy lives.

ART typically involves a cocktail of at least three different antiretroviral drugs. These drugs work by targeting different stages of the HIV life cycle, making it more difficult for the virus to replicate.
