AntiDefamation is a term used to describe efforts to prevent, address, and rectify false statements that harm the reputation of individuals or groups. It conducts monitoring, reporting, legal advocacy, and education. Other civil-rights groups, media organizations, and fact-checking networks also engage in anti-defamation work.

In the digital era, social media and user-generated content have expanded the reach of defaming statements, prompting calls for faster verification, better reporting tools, and platform accountability. Critics argue that anti-defamation measures must balance protection against harm with protections for free speech and dissent, to avoid overreach or censorship. Proponents contend that accountability for false statements helps maintain trust and safety online and in public life.
