Anskish

Anskish is a constructed language (conlang) created for a fictional setting featuring the Ansk people of a northern highland region. It functions as the community’s historic tongue and appears in novels, tabletop games, and media within that world. Fans and language developers have studied and expanded it beyond its original texts.

Linguistic profile: Anskish is predominantly agglutinative with a subject–object–verb (SOV) base order. Nouns inflect for number and case (nominative, accusative, genitive), while verbs encode tense, aspect, mood, and evidentiality. The language relies on postpositions rather than prepositions, and word order is flexible thanks to rich morphology.

Phonology and writing: The phoneme inventory includes stops p, t, k, b, d, g; fricatives s, h; nasals m, n; and liquids l, r. Vowels are a, e, i, o, u with limited vowel harmony across affixes.
