Anies

Anies Baswedan is an Indonesian politician who has served as the Governor of West Java since 2019. He was born on January 7, 1969, in Bandung, West Java. Baswedan holds a degree in economics from the University of Indonesia. Before entering politics, he worked in the private sector, including as a manager at a telecommunications company.

Baswedan's political career began in 2009 when he was elected as a member of the People's Representative Council (DPR), the lower house of the Indonesian parliament. He served in the DPR until 2019. In 2018, he was appointed as the Minister of State Apparatus Utilization and Bureaucratic Reform in the cabinet of President Joko Widodo. However, he resigned from this position in 2019 to run for the governorship of West Java.

In the 2019 West Java gubernatorial election, Baswedan ran as a candidate for the Democratic Party (PDI-P). He won the election and was inaugurated as the Governor of West Java on February 1, 2019. His running mate, Dedi Mulyadi, was inaugurated as the Vice Governor.

Baswedan's tenure as governor has been marked by efforts to improve infrastructure, promote tourism, and address environmental issues in West Java. He has also been involved in efforts to combat corruption and improve public services in the province.
