Angulimala was a notorious bandit and murderer in ancient India, a central figure in a widely known Buddhist parable. According to the story, he was born as Ahimsaka, meaning "harmless," but was led astray by his teacher and became a fearsome criminal. His name, Angulimala, translates to "finger necklace," as he was said to wear a garland made of the fingers of his victims.
