Anerobiosis refers to a state or condition where organisms, or parts of organisms, are deprived of oxygen. This absence of oxygen can be temporary or permanent and has profound effects on cellular respiration and metabolic processes. Organisms that can survive and thrive in the absence of oxygen are known as anaerobes. These can be obligate anaerobes, which are killed by oxygen, or facultative anaerobes, which can switch between aerobic and anaerobic respiration depending on oxygen availability.
