Andeler

Andeler is the plural form of andel, a unit of ownership or a proportional share in a property, company, or fund. In Scandinavian usage, andeler denote a stake that confers rights and obligations corresponding to the size of the share. The term is used in housing cooperatives, investment funds, and various forms of cooperative or communal enterprises.

In housing cooperatives and andelslag, members hold andeler that give the right to use a dwelling and participate in the association's governance. The number of andeler usually reflects the size of the ownership share or the unit assigned to a member. The value of an andel depends on the cooperative's equity and the property value; transfers often require approval by the board or rules in the cooperative's statutes, and sale prices may be regulated.

In investment funds and mutual funds, andeler refer to fund units that investors buy and redeem. The price per andel is linked to the fund's net asset value, and fees or minimums may apply. In Norway, andeler are often labeled units with a specific class and may carry different fee structures or income rights.

More generally, andel denotes any proportional stake in a company or collective venture. In such cases, the size of the andel can affect voting power, dividend rights, or profit distributions, subject to the entity's governance rules.
