Fossils of *Anagnostes* have been primarily discovered in the southern hemisphere, particularly in regions such as South Africa, Australia, and Antarctica. The name *Anagnostes* comes from the Greek words "anagnostis," meaning "recognition," and "s," possibly referring to its small size or unique skeletal structure.
