Amoniumkloridi

Amoniumkloridi, also known as ammonium chloride, is an inorganic compound with the chemical formula NH4Cl. It is a white crystalline solid that is highly soluble in water. The compound is formed from the reaction of ammonia (NH3) and hydrogen chloride (HCl). In solution, ammonium chloride dissociates into ammonium ions (NH4+) and chloride ions (Cl-).

Ammonium chloride has a variety of industrial and common uses. It is a common ingredient in certain types of fertilizers, providing nitrogen to plants. In the food industry, it is used as a food additive, often as an acidity regulator or as a yeast nutrient in bread making, where it is known as E510. It also finds application in pyrotechnics, where it is used to produce white smoke. Historically, it was used in medicine as an expectorant to help loosen phlegm. It is also used in metalworking as a flux to clean surfaces of metals prior to soldering or galvanizing, removing oxides. When heated, ammonium chloride sublimes, meaning it turns directly from a solid to a gas.
