Amberg-Sulzbach is a Landkreis (rural district) in the Free State of Bavaria, Germany. It is part of the administrative region of Oberpfalz (Upper Palatinate) in the northeast of Bavaria. The district seat is the town of Amberg. The district is named after its two largest towns, Amberg and Sulzbach-Rosenberg, which have historically been central to the area’s administration and economy. Amberg-Sulzbach was formed in 1972 during Bavaria’s district reforms by merging the former districts of Amberg and Sulzbach-Rosenberg.
