Amabamus

Amabamus is the Latin imperfect indicative active form of amare, meaning "to love." It is the first-person plural form, used to express "we loved" or "we were loving" in classical Latin.

Formation: It is built from the present stem am- (from amare) with the imperfect marker -ba- and the personal ending -mus, yielding amabamus. In texts, macrons are often omitted, so it appears as amabamus.

Usage: The imperfect describes past actions that were ongoing, repeated, or background in a narrative, rather than punctual completed events. It can set scene, indicate habitual past activity, or describe states of mind or emotion. With direct objects: Amabamus te = "We loved you."

Relationship to other tenses: Amabamus contrasts with amamus (we love now) and amavimus (we loved, perfect). It can appear in dependent clauses or indirect discourse.
