Alhajah
Alhajah is a term of respect used in West African Muslim communities, particularly in Nigeria and Ghana, to refer to a woman who has completed the Hajj, the pilgrimage to Mecca. The Hajj is one of the Five Pillars of Islam, a mandatory religious duty for adult Muslims that must be carried out at least once in their lifetime by all those who are physically and financially capable. Upon completing this significant spiritual journey, a woman earns the title of Alhajah.
The title is a mark of honor and signifies a woman's deep piety and dedication to her
