The name is used as a toponym for both the metropolitan center and surrounding territories, and it is frequently explored in world-building exercises to illustrate cultural hybridity and resilience in arid maritime environments.

Geographically, algharidust comprises seven volcanic islands off a sun-scorched continent. The central island hosts the capital, also named Algharidust. Landscape includes basalt cliffs, sand beaches, mangrove lagoons, and geothermal vents. Architecture favors sun-dried bricks, shaded courtyards, wind towers, and aqueduct-like canals that connect districts and markets.
