Alfajores
Alfajores are a traditional confection popular in many Latin American countries, particularly Argentina and Uruguay. They typically consist of two round cookies, often made with a shortbread-like dough, joined together with a sweet filling. The most common filling is dulce de leche, a caramelized milk confection. The edges of the alfajor are frequently rolled in shredded coconut, although other coatings like chocolate, sprinkles, or finely chopped nuts are also used.
The origins of alfajores can be traced back to Spain, with the name derived from the Arabic
