AlbulaBernina
AlbulaBernina is a former Swiss railway company that operated the Albula Railway and the Bernina Railway. These two lines are now part of the Rhaetian Railway (RhB). The Albula Railway, opened in 1904, connects Thusis to St. Moritz and is famous for its numerous tunnels and viaducts, including the famous Landwasser Viaduct. It is a UNESCO World Heritage site along with the Bernina Railway. The Bernina Railway, opened in stages between 1908 and 1910, connects St. Moritz with Tirano in Italy. This line is notable for its impressive engineering, including the Brusio Circular Viaduct and its ability to reach high altitudes, crossing the Bernina Pass at 2,253 meters above sea level.
The AlbulaBernina company was established to oversee the construction and operation of these challenging mountain railways.
