Alaraajassa
Alaraajassa, meaning "in the lower leg" in Finnish, is the anatomical region of the leg between the knee and the ankle. The area contains two parallel long bones, the tibia and fibula, with the tibia bearing most of the body's weight and the fibula providing muscle attachment and stability. The lower leg is organized into three muscular compartments enclosed by fascia: anterior, lateral, and posterior.
The anterior compartment houses dorsiflexors and toe extensors, including tibialis anterior, extensor hallucis longus, and extensor
Vascular supply comes primarily from the popliteal artery, which bifurcates into the anterior tibial and posterior
Clinical relevance includes fractures of the tibia or fibula, shin splints, compartment syndrome, and Achilles tendon
