Alapjárat

Alapjárat, in automotive contexts, refers to the engine's idle speed, the rotational speed of the crankshaft when the engine is running but not under load or engaged in any gear. This speed is typically measured in revolutions per minute (RPM). The alapjárat is crucial for maintaining the engine's operation when the vehicle is stationary, such as at a traffic light or while waiting.

The engine control unit (ECU) or a dedicated idle control valve manages the alapjárat. It adjusts the amount of air and fuel entering the engine to maintain a stable and consistent RPM, preventing the engine from stalling. Factors influencing the alapjárat include engine temperature, electrical load (like headlights or air conditioning), and emissions control systems.

A properly functioning alapjárat is characterized by smooth operation with minimal vibration. If the alapjárat is too high, it can lead to increased fuel consumption and unnecessary wear. Conversely, an alapjárat that is too low can cause the engine to run rough, shake, or even stall.
