Alamogordo

Alamogordo is a city in the southwestern United States, located in the state of New Mexico. As of the 2020 census, the population was approximately 30,000 people. Alamogordo is situated in the southeastern part of the state, in the region of the Tularosa Basin.

The city has a rich history, dating back to the 19th century when it was a small settlement along the Rio Grande. During World War II, the area was the site of a major military base and training facility, specifically the Alamogordo Bombing and Gunnery Range. After the war, the base was converted into a nuclear testing facility, where the famous Trinity test of the atomic bomb took place in 1945.
