Aladim
Aladim is a character from the Arabic Nights tales, most famously known from "Aladdin and the Wonderful Lamp." In this story, Aladim is a poor young man who lives in China and is tricked by a sorcerer into retrieving a magical oil lamp from an enchanted cave. He discovers that the lamp contains a genie, a powerful being who grants wishes. Aladim uses the genie's power to gain wealth and marry Princess Badroulbadour, the daughter of the Sultan. However, the sorcerer returns, seeking the lamp. Aladim, with the help of the lamp's genie and sometimes a second genie from a magical ring, must outwit the sorcerer and protect his newfound fortune and his wife. The character of Aladim has been adapted into numerous forms of media, including films, plays, and television shows, often with variations on the original storyline. The name Aladim is often considered a variation of the Arabic name Ala al-Din, meaning "nobility of the faith."
