Aktiivkomponentide refers to electronic components that have the ability to control the flow of electrical current. Unlike passive components such as resistors, capacitors, and inductors, which simply store or dissipate energy, active components can amplify, switch, or generate signals. This ability to manipulate electrical signals is fundamental to the operation of virtually all modern electronic devices.

The most common types of active components include transistors and diodes. Transistors, such as bipolar junction transistors (BJTs) and field-effect transistors (FETs), act as electronic switches or amplifiers. They can use a small input signal to control a much larger output signal, which is the basis for amplification in radios, audio equipment, and many other circuits. Diodes, on the other hand, are primarily used to allow current to flow in one direction while blocking it in the opposite direction, a function crucial for rectification in power supplies and signal detection.

Integrated circuits (ICs), also known as chips, are complex arrangements of numerous active and passive components fabricated on a single piece of semiconductor material. These ICs perform a wide range of functions, from simple logic gates to sophisticated microprocessors and memory devices, forming the brains of computers, smartphones, and countless other electronic systems. The development and refinement of active components have been the driving force behind the miniaturization and increasing power of electronic technology.
