Akryltätningsmedel, often referred to as acrylic caulk, is a type of sealant primarily composed of acrylic polymers and water. It is widely used in construction and home improvement for sealing gaps and joints. Its primary function is to prevent the passage of air, moisture, and sometimes dust and insects through openings in buildings and structures. This can improve energy efficiency by reducing drafts and preventing heat loss or gain.

Akryltätningsmedel is known for its ease of application, typically dispensed from a caulking gun. It dries to a paintable finish, allowing it to be colored to match surrounding surfaces, which is a significant advantage for aesthetic purposes. The flexibility of cured acrylic caulk allows it to accommodate minor movements in building materials without cracking. It is generally suitable for interior use and for exterior applications where it is not exposed to prolonged direct sunlight or extreme weather conditions, although some formulations are specifically designed for outdoor durability. Common applications include sealing around windows, doors, baseboards, and in cracks and crevices in walls. It is not typically recommended for joints that experience significant expansion and contraction or for areas requiring high water resistance.
