Aklimatizácia
Aklimatizácia refers to the process by which an organism adjusts to changes in its environment. This adjustment can occur over a short period, such as when a person travels to a different altitude or climate, or over longer evolutionary timescales, as species adapt to their surroundings. Physiological acclimatization involves changes in the body's functions to cope with new conditions. For example, when exposed to lower oxygen levels at high altitudes, the body increases red blood cell production to improve oxygen transport. Similarly, organisms may acclimatize to temperature fluctuations by altering their metabolic rate or developing protective mechanisms. Behavioral acclimatization involves changes in an organism's actions to better suit its environment. This could include seeking shade in hot weather, altering sleep patterns, or migrating to more favorable conditions. In ecological contexts, acclimatization describes how populations or ecosystems respond to environmental shifts, such as changes in pollution levels or the introduction of invasive species. This process is crucial for survival and can lead to greater resilience in the face of environmental challenges. The capacity for acclimatization varies significantly among different species and even within individuals, depending on their genetic makeup and past experiences.
