Ajzenin

Ajzenin is a town and municipality in the fictional country of Valoria, located in the northern Valorian Highlands along the Serin River. The municipality covers about 40 square kilometers and had an estimated population of 7,500 in 2023. It serves as the administrative center of the Ajzenin District and functions as a regional hub for agriculture and light industry.

The name Ajzenin derives from the local language, meaning “junction of roads,” a reference to its historic role as a crossroads for traders.

Ajzenin originated in the 12th century as a river trading post. It grew through the medieval period, developing crafts and a fortified town center. It joined the Valorian state in the 18th century and later expanded with rail and road connections in the 19th and 20th centuries.

Geography and economy: rolling hills and vineyards surround the town, and the Serin River provides irrigation. The economy combines farming—wheat and grapes—with textile workshops and small manufacturing. A weekly market draws buyers from nearby districts.

Culture and infrastructure: Ajzenin hosts the annual Autumn Market festival featuring local crafts, music, and cuisine. The Ajzenin Fortress, dating to the 14th century, is a regional historic site. The town is connected by a regional rail line and a network of national roads.

Notable people include the 19th-century painter Lira Voss and contemporary journalist Marek Ion.
