Aikayksiköiden

Aikayksiköiden refers to units of time in the Finnish language. These units are essential for measuring durations, scheduling events, and understanding the passage of time. The most common and fundamental aikayksikkö is the sekunti, or second. Building upon the second are larger units. A minute, called minuutti, consists of sixty seconds. Following the minute is the tunti, or hour, which comprises sixty minutes.

The progression continues with the päivä, or day, typically defined as twenty-four hours. A week is known as viikko and contains seven days. The months are called kuukaudet, with their lengths varying depending on the specific month and whether the year is a leap year. A year is referred to as vuosi, and it generally consists of 365 days, with 366 days in a leap year. Larger divisions of time include vuosikymmen (decade), vuosisata (century), and vuosituhat (millennium).

These aikayksiköiden are used in everyday contexts, from setting appointments to discussing historical periods. Understanding these units is crucial for anyone learning the Finnish language or engaging with Finnish culture.
