Afrundet

Afrundet is a Danish term meaning “rounded” or “rounded off.” It is the past participle of the verb afrunde, and is used to describe a number or quantity that has been rounded to a specified precision. The word combines the prefix af- (off, away) with rund (round) and the suffix -et, forming an adjectival or predicative form. As an adjective, it can modify a noun or appear in phrases such as “tallet er afrundet.”

In mathematics, accounting, statistics, and everyday calculations, afrundet values communicate figures with reduced precision. Danish usage often specifies the rounding rule, for example “afrundet til to decimaler” (rounded to two decimals) or “afrundet til nærmeste hele tal” (rounded to the nearest whole number). Directions such as “afrundet opad” (rounded up) and “afrundet nedad” (rounded down) may also be indicated when the method matters.
