Aerosolisoituneet

Aerosolisoituneet is a Finnish term referring to substances that have been aerosolized or exist as aerosols—fine particles or droplets suspended in a gas, typically air. An aerosol consists of solid particles or liquid droplets dispersed in a gas, and the term covers both airborne particulates and aerosolized liquids. Aerosolisoituneet can arise through atomization, spraying, nebulization, evaporation and condensation, combustion, or mechanical break-up of liquids. Particle sizes span from tens of nanometers to tens of micrometers, with health and environmental effects often governed by size: ultrafine particles (<100 nm), accumulation mode (100 nm–2.5 μm), and coarse particles (>2.5 μm). Inhalation exposure depends on size, shape, hygroscopicity, and volatility, determining deposition in the nose, throat, bronchi, or alveoli.

Health and safety concerns include respiratory irritation, allergen exposure, and transmission of infectious agents through airborne droplets. Mitigation relies on ventilation, filtration, containment, and appropriate handling of hazardous aerosols.
