Aegnor

Aegnor is a fictional Elven prince in the legendarium of J.R.R. Tolkien. A member of the Noldor, he is presented as a son of Finarfin and Eärwen and is counted among the kin of Finrod Felagund, Angrod and Galadriel. Aegnor appears primarily in accounts of the First Age of Middle-earth and the wars of Beleriand.

Described as a stern and martial figure, Aegnor is noted for his skill in battle and for a reserved, often taciturn character. Along with his brother Angrod he became associated with the forest realm of Doriath and with King Thingol, maintaining close ties with that realm while also participating in wider Elven efforts against Morgoth. He is portrayed as a devoted warrior who took part in key struggles between the Elves and the forces of Angband.

Aegnor’s fate is tied to the great battles of the First Age; like many princes of the Noldor he falls in the long wars against Morgoth. His death is recorded among the heavy losses suffered by Elven houses during that period. In later writings and adaptations he is often remembered chiefly for his lineage, his martial prowess, and his role within the tragic history of the Noldor in Beleriand.
