Adsorptiven

Adsorptiven is a term used in chemistry and materials science to describe the adsorptive capacity or propensity of a material to attract and hold molecules on its surface through adsorption. Adsorption refers to the adhesion of atoms, ions, or molecules from a gas, liquid, or dissolved phase onto a solid surface, forming a thin film. This is distinct from absorption, where substances penetrate into the bulk of the material.

Quantifying adsorptiven involves adsorption isotherms that relate the amount adsorbed to pressure at a constant temperature. Models such as Langmuir, Freundlich, and the Brunauer–Emmett–Teller (BET) theory are commonly used.
