Adsorptionsvorgängen refer to the process where atoms, ions, or molecules from a substance in a gas, liquid, or dissolved solid adhere to a surface. This phenomenon is distinct from absorption, where a substance permeates or is dissolved by a liquid or solid. The substance being adsorbed is called the adsorbate, and the surface onto which it adheres is called the adsorbent.
