Adnoc

ADNOC, or Abu Dhabi National Oil Company, is the state-owned oil and gas company of the United Arab Emirates. Established in 1971 by the Government of Abu Dhabi to consolidate and manage the emirate’s hydrocarbon resources, ADNOC oversees exploration, production, refining, storage, distribution, and marketing of oil and gas products. The company is headquartered in Abu Dhabi and is wholly owned by the Abu Dhabi government.

ADNOC operates through a network of integrated business units and subsidiaries covering the full value chain, including onshore and offshore exploration and production, natural gas development, refining, and downstream petrochemicals. It manages logistics, storage, and marketing through entities such as ADNOC Drilling, ADNOC Onshore, ADNOC Offshore, ADNOC Sour Gas, ADNOC Gas, ADNOC Refining, and ADNOC Distribution, which runs the UAE’s retail fuel network. The Borouge petrochemicals platform, developed in partnership with Borealis, represents a major downstream asset within the group.

Strategic priorities focus on increasing efficiency, expanding natural gas supply, and growing downstream capacity, while pursuing low-carbon initiatives. ADNOC has investments in carbon capture, utilization and storage projects and hydrogen development as part of long-term plans to improve environmental performance and competitiveness in global markets.

ADNOC is wholly owned by the Government of Abu Dhabi and operates under a governance framework aligned with national energy policy. It is led by a board and a chief executive officer responsible for implementing strategy across the portfolio.

Internationally, ADNOC markets crude oil and refined products to customers worldwide and participates in partnerships and joint ventures with global energy companies. It maintains a trading and marketing presence through ADNOC Trading and collaborates with partners across Asia, Europe, and the Middle East.
