Adipokineja

Adipokineja is a term that has been used to describe a broader, less specific category related to adipose tissue. While "adipokines" refers to a specific group of protein signaling molecules secreted by adipocytes (fat cells), the term "adipokineja" was sometimes used in a less precise way to encompass various factors originating from or influenced by adipose tissue. This could include not just secreted proteins but also other substances and biological processes associated with fat.

The distinction between adipokines and the broader concept of adipokineja lies in specificity. Adipokines are well-defined molecules like leptin, adiponectin, resistin, and various cytokines. Their roles in regulating metabolism, inflammation, appetite, and insulin sensitivity are extensively studied. In contrast, "adipokineja" lacked a rigorous scientific definition and could be interpreted to include a wider range of effects of adipose tissue beyond the direct action of secreted adipokines.

Over time, the use of "adipokineja" has become less common in scientific literature, with researchers preferring the more precise term "adipokines" to refer to the specific signaling molecules. While the concept it alluded to is important, the term itself has largely been superseded by more specific scientific terminology.
