Adhesiolyysi

Adhesiolyysi is a medical procedure aimed at separating adhesions, which are bands of scar tissue that can form between organs and tissues in the body. These adhesions can develop after surgery, infection, or inflammation, and they can cause pain, restrict organ movement, and lead to bowel obstruction or infertility.

The process of adhesiolysis typically involves surgery, either through open surgery or minimally invasive laparoscopic techniques. In laparoscopic adhesiolysis, a surgeon makes small incisions and uses a laparoscope, a thin, lighted tube with a camera, to visualize the adhesions. Specialized instruments are then used to carefully cut and free the scar tissue from surrounding structures. Open surgery is reserved for more complex cases or when laparoscopic approaches are not feasible.

The goal of adhesiolysis is to relieve symptoms caused by adhesions and restore normal organ function. Recovery time varies depending on the extent of the adhesions and the surgical approach used. Potential risks include bleeding, infection, and the possibility of new adhesions forming. While adhesiolysis can be effective in alleviating symptoms, it does not always prevent the recurrence of adhesions.
