Adenovírusokat, or adenoviruses, are a group of common viruses that can cause a range of illnesses in humans. They are found worldwide and can infect people of all ages, though they are particularly common in children. Adenoviruses are responsible for a variety of symptoms, including the common cold, bronchitis, pneumonia, conjunctivitis (pink eye), gastroenteritis (diarrhea and vomiting), and fever. In some cases, they can also cause more serious conditions like meningitis or encephalitis.

These viruses are typically spread through close contact with an infected person, such as through respiratory droplets produced when someone coughs or sneezes, or by touching contaminated surfaces and then touching one's eyes, nose, or mouth. Adenoviruses are relatively stable and can survive for extended periods on surfaces, contributing to their ease of transmission.

While there is no specific cure for adenovirus infections, treatment usually focuses on managing symptoms. This includes rest, hydration, and over-the-counter medications for fever and pain. In most healthy individuals, the immune system can effectively fight off the virus, leading to a full recovery. However, for individuals with weakened immune systems or other underlying health conditions, adenovirus infections can be more severe and may require more intensive medical care. Vaccines are available for some specific adenoviruses, primarily for military recruits to prevent certain outbreaks.
