In Slovak, adekvátne also functions as an adverb, while the related adjective takes forms such as adekvátny (masculine), adekvátna (feminine), and adekvátne (neuter or plural).

Origin and form: The word derives from Latin adequatus, formed from ad- 'to' + aequare 'to make equal,' and was transmitted into European languages through French adéquat and other intermediaries. In modern Slovak and Czech, this lineage is reflected in the common lexical item for 'adequate' and its adverbial forms.

Usage and examples: In Slovak, adekvátne is used to denote that an action is performed in a manner that meets requirements. Examples: "Odpoveď bola adekvátne vyjadrená." "Projekt bol adekvátne naplánovaný." In Czech, the corresponding forms are adkvátní (adjective) and adekvátně (adverb). Similar forms exist in other Slavic languages with minor orthographic differences.
