Addis

Addis most often refers to Addis Ababa, the capital and largest city of Ethiopia. In Amharic, the word Addis means “new,” and the city’s name translates roughly as “New Flower” (Addis Ababa). The full name is commonly rendered as New Flower or New Blossom. The city is a chartered city that serves as the political and administrative center of the country, hosting the Ethiopian government, the Parliament, and numerous foreign missions.
