Acordaments

Acordaments are formal agreements between two or more parties that establish rights, obligations, or commitments. Etymology and usage: The term comes from the Catalan verb acordar, meaning to agree. The noun acordament (plural acordaments) denotes the act or result of agreeing and is commonly used in legal, diplomatic, and contractual contexts. Depending on the context and language, acordaments may be described as binding or non-binding, soft law or hard law, and may require formal ratification or approval.

Scope and types: Acordaments can be bilateral, involving two parties, or multilateral, involving several parties. They can set out schedules, financial terms, timelines, or regulatory standards. International acordaments may be binding treaties or non-binding declarations; national or local acordaments may govern labor relations, trade terms, environmental rules, or public administration. Some acordaments are designed to harmonize standards, while others facilitate cooperation or information sharing.
