Absolut is a Swedish vodka brand produced in Åhus, Sweden, known for its distinctive square bottle and minimalist labeling. The brand traces its origins to 1879, when entrepreneur Lars Olsson Smith introduced a neutral spirit under the name Absolut Rent Brännvin as part of his distillery’s offerings. Smith’s approach to continuous distillation aimed to create a purer spirit, and the Absolut name came to symbolize the concept of absolute purity in vodka.

Production remains centered in Åhus, where the vodka is distilled and bottled. Absolut gained global distribution after Vin & Sprit AB, the Swedish company behind the brand, was acquired by Pernod Ricard in 2008, placing Absolut within one of the world’s largest spirits portfolios. The brand is marketed worldwide through Pernod Ricard’s network.

The Absolut line includes the classic Absolut Vodka and a broad range of flavored variants and limited editions.
