Abregelung

Abregelung is a term used in Regelungstechnik (control engineering) to describe a down-regulation or reduction action by the controller. It is the counterpart to Aufregelung, where the manipulated variable is increased to correct a deviation from the setpoint. In Abregelung, the regulator lowers or limits the manipulated variable to steer the process variable toward the desired value.

In a closed-loop system, when the measured process variable exceeds the setpoint or threatens to overshoot,

Examples include a turbine governor reducing fuel flow to cap speed, a vehicle speed limiter that reduces

Practical considerations include that Abregelung can slow the response and may leave a residual steady-state error
