AWEA

The American Wind Energy Association, commonly known as AWEA, was a national trade association that represented the wind energy industry in the United States. Founded in 1974, its primary mission was to promote the development and adoption of wind power as a clean, renewable energy source. AWEA served as a central hub for wind industry stakeholders, including wind turbine manufacturers, project developers, owners, operators, and related service providers.

The association played a significant role in advocating for favorable policies and regulations at the federal and state levels to support the growth of wind energy. This included lobbying efforts related to tax incentives, renewable portfolio standards, and transmission infrastructure. AWEA also provided valuable data, research, and market analysis on the wind energy sector, helping to inform industry trends and investment decisions.

In 2021, AWEA merged with the American Clean Power Association (ACP), with the combined entity continuing to advocate for renewable energy development.
