ATPiin
ATPiin is a designation found in some genomic and proteomic annotation pipelines to label a predicted protein of unknown function. The term is not standardized and does not refer to a single, universally recognized protein across species. In many databases, ATPiin refers to an open reading frame near energy-related genes or within operons, but its assignment varies between organisms and annotation versions.
Because it is uncharacterized, there are no experimentally validated features commonly accepted for ATPiin. Computational analyses
The practical use of the ATPiin label is mainly to flag an uncharacterized protein for further investigation.
