APG

APG is an acronym that can refer to several organizations and concepts. The most widely cited use in science is the Angiosperm Phylogeny Group (APG), an international collaboration of botanists formed to develop a modern, consensus-based classification for flowering plants. The APG system has been updated in successive editions—APG II (2003), APG III (2009), and APG IV (2016). It relies heavily on molecular phylogenetic data to infer evolutionary relationships, which has led to reorganization of many orders and families and a framework that emphasizes monophyletic groups. APG IV remains a standard reference in many botanical publications and institutional classifications.

APG is also the acronym of the Algemene Pensioen Groep, a Dutch pension asset manager. The group administers and invests funds on behalf of multiple Dutch pension schemes, operating through APG Asset Management and related entities. Its activities span a range of asset classes, including equities, fixed income, real estate, and alternatives, and it maintains a global investment footprint to serve public and private clients.

In addition to these principal usages, APG can denote other organizations, programs, or product names in different contexts. The two meanings described above are among the most commonly encountered in academic and financial literature.
